Extended Care

Extended Care

Students enrolled at St. Rita Catholic School are eligible for our Extended Care Program.  Extended Care is provided for use by parents whose working hours do not permit them to pick up their children at dismissal time.  The regular school day is from 7:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.  Students may be dropped off beginning at 7:30 a.m. with teachers and staff on duty to provide the necessary care needed until 7:45 a.m. when the first bell rings. Children arriving to school after 7:50 a.m. are tardy to school.  Students must be picked up in the afternoon by 3:35 p.m.

After School Care

The afternoon program begins at 3:35 p.m. on regular school days and 12:20 p.m. on early dismissal days. It ends at 6:00 p.m.  Drop-ins are welcome.  Since teachers and staff are not available after 3:35, which is when their school day ends, children still at school at that time will be taken to Extended Care. Families will be billed for this service.

Students attending Extended Care on early dismissal days need to bring a lunch from home; this should be a lunch that does not require a microwave to heat. Extended care is offered on all early dismissal days except the last day of the fall semester and the last day of school.

Early Pickup: Students picked up from extended care before 4:15 pm will be charged a reduced rate.

Late Pickup: Students not picked up by 6:00 p.m. will be charged $1/child for each minute after 6:00 p.m.

Late Payment Fee: $25.00 late fee is assessed for late payments.

If a child's enrollment in the Extended Care Program changes during any month of the year, changes in FACTS will be made the following month.

Policies & Procedures
Extended Care is an extension of St. Rita School and adheres to the same procedures and regulations related to discipline, behavior, expectations, and dress code.  If a student enrolled in Extended Care is present at school, we assume he/she will be attending Extended Care that afternoon. Please notify the school office beforehand if your child will not be attending Extended Care.  Any enrolled Extended Care student who attends sports practice, etc. may be brought to Extended care provided a note is on file stating the day(s) and time of the activity and its dismissal.

Facilities & Activities
Extended care students will be provided with study time and free play in the designated classrooms, outside in the courtyard, and in the gym.

Pick-up Policy

Parents should ring the doorbell at the preschool entrance to pick up their children. No adult other than those listed on the Extended Care form will be allowed to pick up your child from the program. If there is a change in the person picking up your child, the office must be notified in writing before 3:00 p.m. Any adult picking up a child, other than parents, will be asked to show a Texas Driver’s license.

Students not picked up by 6 p.m. will be charged $1.00 per minute per child beginning at 6:01 p.m.

If a child is not picked up at closing and we have not received word from the parent, the following steps will be taken:
  1. The staff will try to contact the parents.
  2. The staff will try to contact the adults on the emergency form authorized to pick up the child immediately.
  3. The authorities (police) will be notified if a child is not picked up.
