Extended Care

Extended Care

Students enrolled at St. Rita Catholic School are eligible for our Extended Care Program.  Extended Care is provided for use by parents whose working hours require children be dropped off prior to 7:30 a.m. or do not permit them to pick-up their children at dismissal time.  The regular school day is 7:50 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.  Students may be dropped off beginning at 7:30 a.m. with teachers and staff on duty in the gym to provide the necessary care needed until 7:45 a.m. when the first bell rings. If a child is dropped off at 7:45 a.m., s/he has until 7:50 a.m. to get to his/her classroom. Children arriving after 7:50 a.m. are tardy to school.  Students must be picked up in the afternoon by 3:30 p.m.

Before School Care

A morning Extended Care program is available for students that must be dropped off between 7:15 and 7:30 a.m.  Families will be charged $25/month for each child dropped off early.

After School Care

The afternoon program begins at 3:30 p.m. on regular school days and 12:20 p.m. on early dismissal days. It ends at 6:00 p.m.  Drop-ins are welcome.  Since teachers and staff are not available after 3:30, which is when their school day ends, children still at school at that time will be taken to Extended Care. The families will be billed for this service.

Students attending Extended Care on early dismissal days need to bring a lunch from home. Extended care is offered on all early dismissal days except the first and last day of the fall semester and the last day of school.

Policies & Procedures

Extended Care is an extension of St. Rita School and adheres to the same procedures and regulations related to discipline, behavior expectations, and dress code.  If a student enrolled in Extended Care is present at school, we assume he/she will be attending Extended Care that afternoon. Please notify Mrs. Hernandez or the office beforehand if your child will not be attending Extended Care.  Any enrolled Extended Care student who attends sports practice, etc. may be brought to Extended care provided a note is on file stating the day(s) and time of the activity and its dismissal.

Facilities & Activities
Extended care students have snacks, study time, and free play in the early childhood classrooms, outside in the courtyard, and in the gym.

Pick-up Policy

Parents should ring the doorbell at the preschool entrance to pick up their children. No adult other than those listed on the Extended Care form will be allowed to pick up your child from the program. If there is a change in the person picking up your child, the office must be notified before 3:00 p.m. We request in writing any information concerning alternative pick up arrangements. Any adult picking up a child, other than parents, will be asked to show a Texas Driver’s license. Parents or person picking up your child are required to “sign-out” your child and record the time they were picked up each day.

Students not picked up by 6 p.m. will be charged $1.00 per minute per child beginning at 6:01 p.m.

If a child is not picked up at closing and we have not received word from the parent, the following steps will be taken:
  1. The staff will try to contact the parent.
  2. The staff will try to contact the adults on the emergency form authorized to pick up the child immediately.
  3. The authorities will be notified if child is not picked up.
